Dr. Nerilee Hing (Ph.D.)
Dr. Nerilee Hing (Ph.D.) is a Professor with the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University Australia, and also the Founding Director of its Centre for Gambling Education and Research (CGER), the leading gambling research center in Australia.
Her research interests include problem gambling, responsible gambling, gambling amongst vulnerable populations, impacts of gambling, and help-seeking and recovery from gambling problems.
Nerilee has over 80 peer-reviewed publications on gambling and regularly presents at both international and Australian conferences. She has conducted research projects which have been externally funded for over AUD$5 million, with funding agencies that include the Australian Research Council, Gambling Research Australia, Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General, Victorian Department of Justice, NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing, and the South Australian Independent Gambling Authority.
She has ongoing editorial and review roles for International Gambling Studies and the Asian Journal of Gambling Issues and Public Health, and holds or has held invited appointments on the Social Policy Research and Evaluation Panel, Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; Australian Government Ministerial Expert Advisory Group on Gambling; Independent Peer Review Panel for the Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council, Victorian Government; and the NSW Problem Gambling Stakeholder Group.
