Dr. Ming-Chien Sung
Dr. Ming-Chien Sung is Professor of Risk and Decision Sciences at the Centre for Risk Research in the University of Southampton (UK). Her key research aim is to predict and improve real-world risk-taking and decision-making by developing an understanding of the factors which influence decisions in wider financial and gambling markets, through the application of quantitative modeling. Her research plan is to develop and employ a range of methodologies and innovative modeling techniques to further understanding of real-world risk-taking and decision-making. To achieve this, she have secured more than £1 million research funding in total to date and established a multi-disciplinary network in both academic and commercial organizations to collaborate in a range of research projects and to help solve the problems of commercial organizations. Specifically, her research interests include forecasting of competitive events (e.g., horseraces), prediction markets, and decision-making in gambling and financial markets. She has presented her research at a number of leading international conferences, and has published her work in a wide range of leading journals in economics, operations research, finance, and decision-making, including Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Economica, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Forecasting, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting etc. She is a member of the editorial board of Economic Issues.
